Government Mints
The Royal Mint
The United Kingdom's sovereign mint, striking gold and silver bullion coins and minted bars.
Austrian Mint
Austria's sovereign mint, owned by the Austrian central bank, known for Philharmonic coins and gold bars.
The Perth Mint
Australia's sovereign mint, owned by the Government of Western Australia, producing coins plus cast and minted bars.
The Royal Canadian Mint
Canada's sovereign mint, a federal Crown corporation, known for Maple Leaf coins and gold and silver bars.
United States Mint
The federal mint of the United States, which issues bullion coins such as the American Eagle rather than bars.

A privately owned German precious metals group whose refinery produces gold and silver bars.

A privately owned Swiss refinery at Mendrisio, producing minted gold and silver bars.

A privately owned Swiss refinery at Balerna, producing minted gold and silver bars, including divisible CombiBar formats.
PAMP Suisse
A privately owned Swiss refinery at Castel San Pietro, producing minted gold and silver bars, including the Fortuna design.

Why the mint or refinery matters
Recognition helps at resale. Coins and bars from sovereign mints and established refineries are familiar to dealers in New Zealand and overseas, which matters on the day you sell rather than the day you buy.
Purity and weight are documented. Serial numbers, assay cards, and sealed packaging make it straightforward to check what you hold.
Premiums differ by maker and format. Two 1 oz gold products can price differently depending on who made them and how they are struck. Our desk will explain the difference before you order.
