Gold/Silver Ratio Chart

It is how many troy ounces of silver it takes to match the value of one troy ounce of gold. Calculate it as gold spot ÷ silver spot in the same currency and unit.

We divide NZD gold per troy ounce by NZD silver per troy ounce. Using the same currency keeps the ratio comparable even as NZD/USD moves.

When the ratio rises, gold has outperformed silver. When it falls, silver has gained relative to gold. Absolute “high” or “low” levels need historical context; traders watch relative moves more than a single magic number.

Yes as a relative-value lens. It does not predict prices, but it helps compare whether silver looks expensive or cheap versus gold before you choose products on the trading desk.

Not when both metals are priced in the same currency. We use NZD spot so the chart aligns with local NZ pricing; USD inputs would give the same ratio if both series stay consistent.
